I belive you want users to click on a tab which would show them thumbnails which on click action should show the slideshow. You can use the accordion container itself for this.

Insert the slideshow and expand accordion frame on page with different tabs selections , so when user wish they can run the slideshow.

Unfortunately we cannot use thumbnails with accordion and hero image out of the container.
