Re: Error 16 with Adobe XI Pro.

Hi Rave

Thanks very much for your response.  Below is a sequence of steps that we have taken to try and resolve this issue.

First step, we right clicked on the Adobe Acrobat XI desk top icon and ran as Administrator, then went to Help and ran the Repair Acrobat Installation.

Second step, we carried out the following.

Note: We have seen the link you provided below in a number of other threads and have read through it but as only Windows 8 is listed and not Windows 8.1, we’ve noticed there is a difference in Part 3 – ‘Set Permissions’ – where the dialogue boxes shown in the link don’t match Windows 8.1

So what we have done is worked through Part One – Set folder and search options and Part 2 – Modify the SLStore folder.

When it came to Part 3 (Set Permissions) we worked through Steps 1 and 2 and at Step 3 we clicked on ‘Advanced’.

However at Step 4 and 5, Windows 8.1 is different and there is no ‘Owner’ tab in the ‘Advanced Security Settings for Adobe PCD’.  This was the stalling point for us, however what we did do is jump to Step 6, in the Permissions tab, selected ‘Change Permissions’ button and in  Step 7, selected Replace all Child Object Permissions with Inheritable Permissions from this Object, and then clicked on apply, and OK to close the dialogue boxes.

We did this yesterday and so far Error 16 hasn’t shown up.  So hopefully the above steps will fix the problem – we’ll probably know in a couple of days as mysteriously the error pops up after about a  week.

Regards

P.S.  Has anybody with Windows 8.1 come across the same scenario??
