while playing my sequence back some it seems to stick a if it was stop motion. How do I fix this?

I'm having a big problem getting my video to run smoothly. As I play back my sequence in my time line, there are times when it seems ti stick, then is gets jumpy. I don't know what causes this or how to fix it. Please Help
